The 2. liga (2nd League), also known as MONACObet LIGA for sponsorhips reasons, is the second-level football league in Slovakia. Currently, the competition consist of 16 teams.

History

The league was formed as a second-tier league in Czechoslovakia. Before the dissolution of Czechoslovakia it consisted of 16 teams. Upon dissolution, six teams were promoted to the then newly formed Slovak First League. The league was expanded to 18 teams in 1996/97 season, but returned back to 16 in 2001/02 and reduced to 12 in 2006–07.[]

For 2014/15 and 2015/16 seasons the league became known as DOXXbet liga as part of a sponsorship agreement.[]

In February 2024, the league was renamed as MONACObet LIGA as a part of a two-and-half year partnership deal with an option to extend. The deal included a further undisclosed club grant worth over million €, allegedly exceeding any previous partnerships.

Slovakiet - 2. liga er den næstbedste fodboldliga i Slovakiet. Ligaen består af 12 hold, der spiller 33 kampe hver i en sæson. De to øverste hold rykker op i den slovakiske Superliga, mens de to nederste hold rykker ned i 3. liga.

Ligaen blev oprettet i 1993 og har siden været en vigtig del af det slovakiske fodboldsystem. Nogle af de mest succesfulde klubber i ligaens historie omfatter AS Trenčín, FC ViOn Zlate Moravce og MFK Skalica.

Slovakiet - 2. liga er en konkurrencedygtig liga med en række talentfulde spillere. Ligaen giver ofte en fremragende mulighed for unge spillere til at gøre sig bemærket og få erfaring på et højt niveau.
