Wikipedia - Copa de la Liga Profesional

The Copa de la Liga Profesional (English: Professional League Cup; officially named "Copa Diego Armando Maradona" in its first edition) is an official Argentine football cup competition. The cup was planned and organised by the "Liga Profesional de Fútbol", a body linked to the Argentine Football Association (AFA) that replaced the defunct Superliga Argentina. This cup was conceived as a contingency competition after the schedule for a regular league season had been repeatedly delayed because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

After the death of Diego Maradona in November 2020, the competition was named after him. Nevertheless, the LPF executives decided to suppress the "Diego Maradona" name to keep distance from the conflict between Maradona's heirs and lawyer Matías Morla, owner of the brand and former representative of Maradona.

Boca Juniors was the first champion of the competition, after beating Banfield in the final.

Argentina - Copa de la Liga Profesional er en argentinsk fodboldturnering, der blev oprettet i 2020. Turneringen er opdelt i to faser: en gruppespilfase og en knockout-fase. I gruppespilfasen er holdene opdelt i to grupper på 14 hold hver. Hvert hold spiller 13 kampe i gruppespillet, hvor hvert hold spiller en kamp mod hver af de andre hold i sin gruppe. De fire bedste hold fra hver gruppe går videre til knockout-fasen.

Knockout-fasen består af to semifinaler og en finale. Semifinalerne spilles på én enkelt kamp, mens finalen spilles på to kampe. Vinderen af finalen kåres til mester i Argentina - Copa de la Liga Profesional.

Argentina - Copa de la Liga Profesional er en prestigefyldt turnering, og den anses for at være en af de vigtigste fodboldturneringer i Argentina. Turneringen er blevet vundet af nogle af de største klubber i Argentina, herunder Boca Juniors, River Plate og Independiente.
